FLIR recently introduced the FLIR Neutrino LC, a Neutrino midwave infrared (MWIR) camera core that can be used on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
The small, lightweight camera is the company’s first High Operating Temperature (HOT) MWIR camera core and the first model in the SWaP+C (Size, Weight, Power, and Cost) series, according to a news release. As the lowest power consuming Neutrino model available, it can be integrated with smaller drones.
The Neutrino LC MWIR is more powerful than a longwave camera, which makes it possible for operators to see further. They also require less power, allowing operators to fly longer.
Longer range capabilities could make the camera core well suited for wildfire detection from ranges not currently available on commercial drones.
